Menopause is a natural transition for our body.

It’s the book-end to puberty. But menopause doesn’t need to stop our life. All we need is the right information, support and accountability to help us navigate it successfully. So it has as little impact on our life as possible. Allowing us to really feel like women in the prime of life.

Did you notice that no one ever talks about peri-menopause and menopause?

It’s like the secret women’s business that periods used to be when we were growing up. But now our daughters and young women are freely talking about periods. Getting support and information from many different places.

Menopause makes changes to our bodies and we need trusted information from experts to help us make sense of what we’re experiencing. When we can’t find the solutions to help us feel human we feel exhausted, grumpy and frustrated.

Are there options for the programmes?

Yes we offer a self-guided (Standard) package – videos and handouts are accessible on our website along with membership to our closed Facebook group.The Personalised VIP Programme includes the self-guided package and fortnightly zoom coaching calls, group chat support, Foodworks diet analysis and health evaluation report and the EVE test/report.

Can I upgrade from the self-guided course to the Personalised VIP programme?

During weeks 1 to 4, yes you can upgrade. But after that you would have to wait until the next programme starts.

Do you sell products as part of the program?

Sarah may make recommendations for herbs or supplements based on the health evaluation, Foodworks analysis or EVE test results but these are optional only.These products could be bought over the counter or ordered by Sarah or other naturopath. Sarah does not have a vested interest in any particular products.Generally we focus on food and lifestyle as solutions.

Do you prescribe a specific diet?

No. While we discuss the pros and cons of various diets we don’t prescribe a diet. We recommend a balanced diet of macronutrients (as suggested by the Ministry of Health) and lots of veggies, we do not recommend the removal of any food groups unless participants want to try an elimination/challenge diet specific to them.

What tests do you use?

We are currently trialling the EVE test, which is a functional test analysing hormones and their metabolites in urine. This has been created by Ben Warren’s company BePure. The EVE test is a urine test to measure for the hormones, oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone. It comes with a recipe book based on your results. The EVE tests gives a good idea about what going on with your hormone levels. We also highly recommend standard blood tests via GP. If you’ve enrolled with the Personalised VIP programme, after your health evaluation Sarah will recommend blood tests specific to you. Blood tests may include B12, iron, thyroid, LFT, Kidney. Depends on symptoms & hormones.

How soon should I see changes in my mood, weight or hot flushes?

Changes are highly individual. Some of our clients see changes within a few weeks of changing their diet. Some clients may still have a symptom having completed their programme and so work with Sarah afterwards for more individualised support.

What are the symptoms of perimenopause?

The symptoms are varied and vast but the most common are changes to periods, hot flushes, mood changes, low libido, sleep problems, weight gain and fatigue. Read our blog about the symptoms of perimenopause, and head to our Facebook page to watch our videos for more information.

What are the symptoms of menopause?

Menopause is defined as the cessation of your period after 12 months. Many women still have the symptoms of peri-menopause even after their periods cease.

Can I still join the Hormone Empowerment course if I’m talking HRT?

Absolutely, you just need to let Sarah know as this will affect any testing results and will determine which herbs or supplements are safe to take.

What questions do you ask in the health evaluation form?

This is a comprehensive form and includes questions about your health history, family history, symptoms of all body systems (as everything is related), height, weight and waist circumference, last blood pressure measurement, your health priorities and values. We also ask you to complete a physical activity assessment and a 3 day food diary. This gives us a great picture of where you are in regards to your health and wellbeing.

Do you have a payment plan?

Yes. You can pay monthly or weekly. Choose the option that suits you best when joining.
