When do we learn the ‘lesson’…

I learnt my lesson…. Or did I!

There are many lessons to be learnt in life, for many different reasons and circumstances.

Today I decided to go and buy a ‘trail mix’ of nuts and dried fruit and chocolate bits, and yoghurt raisins etc – it’s a weakness of mine and I can’t control myself once I start!  I know it’s not good for me, but that still didn’t stop me…

Yep I ate the whole bag!  And boy did I pay for it, I was physically sick, with a sore bloated unhappy tummy to add to that mix, fair to say I won’t be doing that again for quite some time.  I’d like to think I won’t do it again ever, but I can’t guarantee that!

Another reflection of learnings this week was listening to a podcast (The Deep), and Zoe Marshall interviews different people on all sorts of super fascinating topics, anyway, I listened to one about a mum who had terminal cancer. She was given 6 months to live, it was bad, it was lung cancer that had spread into her bones and all through her body.

This amazing mother fought hard! She went to Mexico and did their cleansing method (as for her – no conventional method was going to work), so she green juiced, cleansed, went vegan, mindset work and also vit c infusions and all sorts of other magical stuff – MOST of it we can do here!

The point being is that when I went through that journey, I did the same, I juiced, ate really well, cut out dairy etc and red meat, I also did vit C infusions and I saw a naturopath and dove right into all the therapies – and I never ever have felt better in my life!

My question to myself now is… Why stop? Why have I slipped back to coffee every day, and all the things we do.  I said I wasn’t going to go back to all that when I was battling it at the time – but once again I did.

So, since I felt so good then, I thought I’d start a journey a do some things to bring to life a healthier version of me.  Cut BACK on coffee – not cut out, life is meant to be fun!  And tidy up my eating, eat more vegetarian, cut back on meat, just cut back and add in some juices a few times a week maybe.

You see, it’s not until the s**t really hits the fan do people take action.  It’s not until we can no longer sleep at night due to night sweats and hot flushes, it’s not until we can’t fit our clothes any longer, it’s not until our health is under threat – that we then take action!

The key message I learnt was ‘Prevention is far better than cure’ and we can prevent!

We are sicker and fatter than we have ever been before – ever!  And yet we have so much help at our fingertips! Why is that?  It’s crazy.

Which brings me to the title of this blog ‘When do we learn the lesson…’

So please – Do NOT wait to hit rock bottom before you take action. Do the ‘thing’ you need to do now. Take one step and one day at a time and just start.

Time goes so fast! And before you know it, 3 months will have gone by and you will be feeling so much better I promise!
